OttoJotts

OttoJotts is a word game based on the old pen-and-paper game Jotto (and more recently games like Wordle). OttoJotts lets you challenge friends to play where you each select a secret word and then try to guess your opponent’s word before they guess yours. OttoJotts also offers a Solitaire mode where you can play against the computer.

Originally written and published for iOS in 2010, things have changed quite a bit since then. We’ve been a bit lax in updating it and have been working on other things, but we’re back and working to get this released before the holidays. Right now we have two-player “versus” games working for people to be testing and have just started working on the Solitaire version (think Wordle). OttoJotts also has different difficulties, from Easy, where you see what letters are correct and in the right place, to Master, where you are only shown how many letters are correct and in the right placement.

Play solitaire games with increasing difficulty or play against your friends. Just guess their secret word before they guess yours!

OttoJotts is the secret word game you can play against your friends. You each pick a 5-letter word and use guesses to figure out what your opponent’s word is before they deduce yours. You can play against your friends or against random opponents who are your skill level. And you can play solitaire games against the computer with different difficulties – from Easy through Master!

Easy mode lets you know what letters are in your opponent’s word and even whether they’re in the right place. Medium difficulty will let you know which letters are in your opponent’s word but not if they’re in the correct position. Hard will let you how many letters in your guess are in your opponent’s word. And Master (informally called “Nightmare”) only lets you know how many letters are in the correct place. A true challenge, even for word masters!
